Anna Maria Island Best Beaches In Florida

Senin, 24 September 2012

If you are searching for the perfect beach vacation, Anna Maria Island Florida might be the place for you. The island is located on the Gulf of Mexico just south of Tampa Bay. While other Florida destinations have advertised enough to bring their names to the forefront of travel discussions, those who have explored the state thoroughly consistently contend that Anna Maria Island has the best beaches in Florida, if not the world.

Here are seven reasons you'll agree that Anna Maria Island Beaches are the best in Florida:

1. Sand: Over the course of hundreds of thousands of years, quartz rock eroded from the Appalachian Mountains and washed down to the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf carried the sediment towards the Pacific Ocean with bits gathering on barrier islands such as Anna Maria Island. The result is fine white sand that is softer and more heat resistant than almost any sand in the world.

2. Water: The Gulf of Mexico's water levels rise and fall in a predictable fashion, and the shoreline waves break very low. Barring storms or other weather alterations, the water surrounding AMI tends to stay tranquil and inviting for swimmers. An ideal watery playground.

3. Beach Parks: Parks such as Coquina Beach Park, Manatee County Public Beach and Anna Maria City Park have bathrooms, grills, picnic tables and playgrounds for families and friends to enjoy the beach experience together.

4. Views: Seven and a half miles of Gulf beaches on AMI fill the eye with constantly fluctuating shades of turquoise. But the island's proximity to Tampa Bay and Sarasota Bay also offer spectacular views to the west. To the north and west is the nearly 500 feet tall Sunshine Skyway Bridge (Travel Channel's #3 in "The Top 10 Bridges in the World"). To the south west is the downtown Sarasota skyline.

5. Population: The greatest beaches are the ones you don't have to share, which is one reason Anna Maria Island is so mind-boggling and spectacular to its visitors. Because there are no large resorts on the island, the beaches are never over crowded, and often times you can expect to relax on the sand without another soul within a hundred yards in any direction.

6. Wildlife: Many of natures most beautiful creatures spend their days on Anna Maria Island beaches. Cranes, heron, seagulls and pelicans are sure to fly by as you relax in the sand. In the waters surrounding the island you may spot dolphins, eagle rays, sea turtles and even manatee. But keep your distance and please don't feed any wild animals.

7. Sunsets: Anna Maria Island sunsets are famous the world over. Each evening people gather on the beaches to pay tribute to the end of the day as the sun paints an original portrait of reds and blues and oranges across the big canvass sky.

A Menorca Villa Holiday - The Best Way to See the Island

A Menorca villa based holiday is your opportunity to actually live on this incredible Balearic island and experience its unique attractions and lifestyle.

What makes a Menorca villa holiday unique?

Over the past 20-30 years, the choice available for summer holidays has hugely increased. There is now a global holiday opportunity and competition is fierce, so what makes this island stand out?

Firstly, this beautiful island is relatively close to the UK and only around 1.5-2hours flying time. That means you won't arrive there exhausted from an arduous and lengthy journey. Secondly, Menorca has 'set out its stall' clearly in terms of its holiday proposition. This is not a destination that majors on excess but which has instead looked towards environmental tourism from the outset - an approach that has resulted in some beautifully quiet resorts and an emphasis on natural charm and sensitive developments.

If you like what might be called unpretentious but discerning holidays, then this island is going to be for you.

The attractions

On Menorca, villa locations tend to be just outside of the centre of resorts, though some may be relatively centrally placed. That means you'll be virtually certain of calm and tranquillity but equally, that you may require a hire car of some sort. No resort on the island can really be described as "large" by modern holiday standards and most are located near beautiful beaches. Many are directly adjacent to undeveloped countryside and there are some fantastic walking opportunities, including the circular island path called the "Cami de Cavalls" - parts of which provide stunning coastal views.

Much of the island's hinterland is untouched and you can find many fascinating villages and prehistoric sights to explore (including some caves that are still inhabited!). There remains a string of local arts and crafts traditions and some of that produce is sold in the two major towns of Mahon (the island's capital) and Ciutadella. These two towns are relatively modest in size but very well worth exploring if you like history, culture and sheer relaxed ambiance. As you stroll around their streets on a warm summer's evening, you may find it difficult to worry about too many of life's troubles! Try taking a coffee or glass of wine as you watch the sun go down over Mahon's harbour and you'll see this for yourself.

Wherever your Menorca villa is based on the island, you'll also be within reach of some very quiet and isolated coves, inlets and beaches. Some of these are only accessible on foot and some only really by boat. The effort is worth it though because once you're there, you'll feel like you're on a desert island! Bathing in the crystal clear waters is a joy and there are some fantastic opportunities for exploring - though, as always with the sea, you should, of course, make sure that you follow prevailing local advice to ensure safety.

A Menorca villa holiday might just help change your view of what a Mediterranean holiday can and perhaps should be!

Perhaps for the outside visitor Papagoya gets the nod as it usually gets the better weather being in the southern part of Lanzarote.
