Canary Islands Holidays - Which Sunshine Island Is Best For You

Minggu, 30 September 2012

You may have heard of the Canary Islands before as this historic group of islands has helped forge the exploration of the new world and beyond for centuries before modern travel was even conceived. Also the islands feature in many legends and are even thought to be the lost home of Atlantis. But if you have not been on holiday there yet, then you are in for a pleasant surprise.

Canary Islands
This small island chain consists of seven Islands with principally 3 main holiday islands which are Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. That said the other islands in the group are also well known if not as well travelled so we'll concentrate on the main three.

Tenerife is the largest island in the chain and also Spain's most populated island overall, so if you like the heady buzz and busier holiday style then this is definitely one island for your shortlist. The island offers plenty do with its own golf resort if you simply can't tear yourself away from the greens even when on holiday.

Or if you prefer a more water sport based vacation then the island also offers some outstanding Scuba diving locations where even novices are welcomed, and where you'll experience very memorable dive trips and get the chance to up close and personal with the marine wildlife.

Perhaps the biggest attraction on Tenerife though is the world's third largest volcano which dominates the islands scenery. Visitors to the island simply should not miss the opportunity to visit Mount Teide while they are here.

Close by is the neighbouring island of Gran Canaria which although slightly less crowded and smaller too is also quite unique in many ways and has its very own character. The island has been described as a mini continent all on its own due to the climatic variation across the island, and if viewed from the air (or on Google maps) it is reminiscent of a wagon wheel in shape even down to the radiating spokes from which it got its original name of El Rondel.

Gran Canaria offers excellent beaches for the sun lovers and plenty of outdoor activities too, so never a dull moment unless you want to relax instead. Outdoor hiking types will enjoy exploring the Gran Canaria cliffs which are honeycombed with caves of varying sizes and if mountain climbing is your thing, the growth in the sport here will also grab your attention with an every increasing number of documented climbs.

But for a true taste of the real Canary Islands then the destination of choice just has to be Lanzarote, which in contrast to the other islands has managed to retain the typical Canarian character and charm of the Canary Islands. This is principally due to one man (Cesar Manrique) who has carved out the development of the island literally, and managed during his lifetime to ensure that tourist developments did not become a carbuncle on the very fabric of the island.

All of the islands to a degree share the same wonderful climate that epitomises the west African coast which is hardly surprising as this is the islands closest mainland neighbour, but Lanzarote scores best here too as it enjoys a year round average temperature of 20; which is not too tardy at all, and most of the time in the summer months you'll find it's usually much hotter than this.

If you find that the heat can be overwhelming though you'll be pleased to know that extremes of heat are often tempered by the balmy trade Winds that blow off the Atlantic. This ensures that you'll have the ideal weather to enjoy the many golden sandy beaches that Lanzarote offers.

Once you decide to visit you'll almost certainly enjoy deciding which part of the island to stay in as this will also give you the ideal opportunity to discover the many hidden delights that the island has too offer. On top of that the choice of accommodation available is second to none but some resorts are better suited than others if accommodation choice is your main holiday driver.

For example Playa Blanca was developed during the 1990's and offers a winning combination of great weather and fantastic beaches and is also allied with an excellent selection of affordable and luxury hotels as well as a good selection of Lanzarote holiday villas.

Puerto del Carmen remains a firm favourite and its appeal as a holiday resort is firmly established as a result of its wonderful climate especially for water sport enthusiasts. The town takes full advantage of its location on the eastern coast of Lanzarote where it is fortunate to be sheltered by several volcanoes from the prevailing Atlantic winds. These conditions mean that visitors can thoroughly enjoy the golden sandy beaches that run along the entire seafront, whether they are swimming, snorkelling, sun bathing or simply young children splashing about at the waters edge.

Costa Teguise also remains an attractive holiday hot spot and boasts wide avenues which give it a spacious open plan feel. The resort is also home to some great beaches as well not surprisingly, such as the main stretch of sand at Playa Cucharas.

If you manage to tear yourself away from the main holiday resorts though you'll find that the island is full of surprises and attractions many of which lie well off the beaten track many of which are not suited to coaches, so visitors are well advised to hire a car and explore what the island has to offer, especially in the north which is still widely regarded as the true heart of Lanzarote.

Whichever of the Canary Island you choose to take your next vacation on you'll find something to entertain the whole family, but none will give you the true Canarian flavour like Lanzarote.

Bohol, Boracay Beach Resort, Batanes Island, Baguio City Are The Best Places For A Vacation

I guess its impossible to navigate and explore the world nowadays. But if given a chance, well, a lot of places came into my mind. I have to explore first in my own country. I need to feel its swirling sea breeze and with the local scent of nature.
These are some of my wishlist:

Chocolate Hilss, Bohol
Bohol - one of the popular tourists destination in the Philippines, known for its famous chocolate hills, wide-eyed -Philippine Tarsier, and the the floating restuarant in Loboc River. Floating Restaurant is perfect for a romantic date with your special someone. I want to experience the ultimate happiness together with my loved ones in Bohol.

Boracay Beach
Boracay Beach ResortBoracay Beach resort - Boracay is famous not only through out the country but to the whole world. Popular celebrities or even newly-wed couple love to spend their time in the Boracay Beach Hotel. Boracay island is located in Panay Island in Western Visayas an it is the country's most popular tourist destination.
Of course, this is one of my wish to celebrate and experience the grandest and fabulous tourists attraction in the country. My vacation of course would not be perfect without my family.

Exploring such beautiful extraordinary place is a big achievement for me. My whole life longs to explore and travel the best place which Philippines proudly have.

Batanes Islands
Batanes- I just love to visit their place and to see physically native houses which is made of stone. I am eager to know their culture and traditions.

Batanes Island is located at the northernmost part of the philippines.
I want to discover their source of income and how did they manage themselves even though they are far from the city.

Baguio City, Philippines - I want to explore and experience how really cool it is in Baguio City, Philippines. They say that if you are at Baguio City, you should bring jackets to protect you from being so cold. I wonder why, what Baguio makes cold? Is it because of the Pine trees around?
Baguio is also the famous tourist destination of the country. Staying at baguio for several weeks is really a big deal for me. I want to ride those boats in the pond.

These are only few places that I want to visit. Still, my mind is urging to go somewhere else outside the country like in Paris. I know this can only be happened if I succeed (financially). These are only my desires. Nothing is important to me without my family, loved ones and of course a good health. That's a blessing for me.

Bohol Beach Resorts - Guide to the Best Panglao Island Resorts

Guide to picking Bohol Beach Resorts in Panglao Island

There are numerous resorts in Bohol mainly in Panglao Island beside Bohol mainland. There are several areas in Panglao Island where these are located.

Alona Beach, the most popular albeit 'touristy' area, is a 1 kilometer long white sand beach, where you can find Amorita, Alona Tropical, Alona Pyramid, Golden Palm, Alona Kew, Isis Bungalows, and other seafront accommodations. Restaurants and resorts in Alona are close together. The beach is not as clean or clear as Bolod area but it is still a great white sand beach. From here you may go diving or dolphin watching in Balicasag Island Marine sanctuary or the many dive spots nearby. Rates range from PhP 2000-7000+ per room, good for two.

Bolod Beach area, meanwhile, is a quieter 1.5 kilometer long white sand beach, home to Amarela, Bohol Beach Club, Whites and Greens, Dumaluan, and the upscale Eskaya Resort and Spa. Resorts are far from each other unlike those in Alona beach. Bolod beach is great for swimming and snorkling as the waters are clean, clear and the sand is very fine. It also has a great sunrise. It is a jumpoff point to Pamilacan Island, playground of the dolphins. Resort rates also range from PhP 2000 - 7000+ per room, good for two.

Panglao Island
Other areas include Danao area which is east of Alona where you can find Linaw Beach and Dauis area where you can find Panglao Island Nature Resort or Bohol Sherwood Dive Resort. Bohol resorts in Dauis area are usually located on cliffside properties with great overlooking views of the sea. However, the beaches in the area are smaller compared to those in Bolod or Alona. Some resorts in the area, except for Panglao island Nature, do not have a sandy beach but just straight access to the sea.

Here are some a list of the top choices for Budget, Midpriced and Luxury Beach Resorts in Panglao Island, Bohol:

Budget - Whites and Greens, Alona Tropical, or Isis Bungalows. Rooms from PhP 2000 per night (for two)

Midpriced - Amarela (a cozy and homey boutique resort with hardwood furnishings). From PhP 5,500 per night (for two)

Luxury- Panglao Island Nature and Amorita Resort. From PhP 7000+ per night (for two).

Be sure to pick the best Bohol Resort for your next trip to the island!

Best Places in Pinellas County Florida to Kayak

Sabtu, 29 September 2012

Many people who visit Pinellas County, Florida enjoy taking part in one of the many activities on the water. There are miles and miles of beautiful beaches that stretch down coast on the west side of the county. Pinellas County is home to St. Pete Beach, Clearwater, Treasure Island, and a host of other truly wonderful beaches. One of the most popular activities to take part in is kayaking. Many of the locals and tourists enjoy throwing a kayak in the water and getting some exercise while they enjoy all of the natural beauty that Pinellas has to offer. With so many beautiful areas on the water, it may be hard to figure out where to launch into your next adventure on the water. Here are just a few of the best places to drop your kayak in the water and get paddling.

Fort De Soto Park - An island located off the southwestern tip of the Pinellas Peninsula, this is one of the most beautiful areas in Pinellas, whether you are on land or on the water. There are plenty of locations around the park to launch a kayak and the natural beauty of the area is hard to beat. Ft De Soto Park has a 2.25-mile canoe trail that goes through the mangroves and is a great place to enjoy nature. You can see many different species of wildlife on the trail, including dolphins and manatees. Just south of Ft De Soto is Egmont Key, which is a truly magnificent place to paddle. The trip from De Soto to Egmont goes through a shipping channel with strong currents and is only recommended for the experience kayaker.

Caladesi Island - This gorgeous island is one of the few pristine natural beaches left on Florida's Gulf coast. The island is only accessible by boats and is a local secret that many people are not aware even exists. The island features a kayak trail through the mangroves that stretches about 3 miles. There is also a nature trail on the island, if you want to hop out of the water and enjoy the beauty from land. There is no better place to enjoy the natural beauty of untouched Florida. A great way to reach the island is to launch from the southern end of Honeymoon Island, just north of Caladesi, and paddle south less than 2 miles to reach the island.

Coffee Pot Bayou - Located on the east side of the peninsula near downtown St. Pete, this is a great place to go for a paddle. There is a launch point at Coffee Pot Bayou Park and then you can paddle through the bayou into Tampa Bay. Wildlife, such as manatees and a variety of birds are visible throughout the bayou. Another distinctive feature is Snell Isle, which is home to some of Pinellas wealthiest residents. Kayaking through the bayou and checking out all the beautiful mansions on Snell Isle makes for a lovely day on the water.

Philippe Park - This great park is located on the northeast east side of the Pinellas Peninsula at the edge of Old Tampa Bay. Philippe Park is great for a variety of activities besides kayaking, but it is an especially nice place to launch your kayak and paddle out into the bay. The park itself is very large at 122-acres and is full of huge oak trees. Philippe is a great place to bring your own lunch and to enjoy before or after your adventure on the water.

Many other places around Pinellas are stellar kayaking areas and with an overabundance of coastline, there are certainly no shortages of locations to launch. So, make sure to grab your kayak, paddles, and head out to find your own favorite spot.

Best Kayaking Tours-the Broken Group Islands

The Broken Group Islands are great for kayak touring. This group of about 100 small islands and islets has very diverse paddling terrain, beautiful campsites, and abundance of wildlife, and relatively easy access for west coast kayaking.

Getting There

On Vancouver Island, take Highway 1 to the Tofino turnoff and head toward Tofino. A few kilometers before the Tofino/Ucluelet junction, turn off to the left onto the gravel road to Toquart Bay. Take this road into the campsite at Toquart Bay. The beach at this campsite and parking lot gives the most protected access to the Broken Group. An alternative is to take the MV Lady Rose from Port Alberni to the Sechart Lodge.

The Islands

Hand Island is the first island encountered with a campsite out of either Toquart Bay or Sechart Lodge. Camping is on a strip beach connecting a small islet to the island, the islet itself, and beach on Hand. The shoreline of this island is full of little coves and pocket beaches to explore.

Gibralter Island
Gibralter Island is on the southeastern corner of this rectangular group of islands. It has an large exposed area open to Imperial Eagle Channel, but the inside by Jaques Island is protected. The campsite is at the northern end and is a similar configuration to the camp at Hand Island. This is a great exploration area. Day paddles can be taken to explore the shores and islets of Nettle Island, the lagoon at Jaques and Jarvis Islands, and the group around Dempster Island. Together, these islands encircle a protected area called the Island Harbour.

Dodd, Willis, Turtle, Walsh, and Chalk Islands also form a protected harbour and can be explored on day paddles. Going from Gibralter takes you by the Tiny Group on the way to Chalk Island. Dodd has a campsite on the northeasterrn side across from Chalk Island, with camping along a narrow spit among the trees. Willis camping is on its northwestern side, nested into a small bay between it and Dodd Island. This is a very popular campsite and can often get crowded.

Turret Island is closer to the open Pacific, so has more swell and more of the wild Pacific feel. The group of islets and islands on its western end string out toward Lovett Island and are great places to explore. The campsite on Turret is tucked into a small narrow cove and pocket beach o the southwest end of the island. The is minimal camping area on the beach, but more up in the trees. It is a kind of on-the-way-to place, but actually makes a great base camp for exploring the chain out to Lovett and the Clarke Island group.

Clarke and Benson Islands are the western edge of the Broken Group. The campsite on Clarke is exquisite. It has a beautiful white sand beach on both sides of a point. This point is protected by islets on all sides, providing a nice little play area. Clarke has a nice trail going over the island, so land exploration is possible here is stuck. Benson Island is a short hop away and has a lot of history. The camp at Benson has been decommissioned due to archaeological activity and the need to protect some important sites there, but it can be explored by day.

Effingham Island
Effingham Island has some of the most interesting features. It is open to the Pacific from the south into Imperial Eagle Channel. The group of island to its southwest are also incredibly beautiful. These islands are really exposed and can be the domain of expert paddlers only on rough days. Getting there is worth it, however. A sea lion haul out between Wouwer and Howell is worth a distant visit. Travelling inside the group keeps paddlers fairly protected, but going outside these islands presents the raw Pacific in whatever mood she is in on the day. The campsite on Gibert Island, just next to Effingham in Effingham Bay is on Gilberts northeast side. This is the least beautiful campsite in the group, but as a base, it gives access to all the islands in the Effingham area.

For sea kayak touring, the Broken Group Islands are ideal for any type of paddler, from beginner to expert. Family kayaking trips are common here. Near the open Pacific, the real ocean experience is right there, while being in a compact enough group to provide good protection for easier paddling. The camps are well developed and beautiful. Being part of a national park, they are maintained, cared for, and looked after on a daily basis. The Broken Group Islands are one of the best kayaking tours anyone could ever take.

Best Kayaking Tours-nuchatlitz Inlet

The Nuchatlitz area is a favorite area for many kayaking guides. The area is remote, so there are no crowds, only perhaps another kayaking group in the area. The paddling is mostly easy, with no difficulty in good weather, but the possibility of getting just at the edge and feeling the Pacific swell. The Nuchatlitz area really covers both the north and south entrances to Esperanza Inlet.

How to Get to the Nuchatlitz Area

On Vancouver Island, take Highway 1 past Campbell River. Look for the sign to Zeballos, turning off to the west. This turnoff is about 3 hours out of Nanaimo This is a gravel logging road, so caution is the key to making this leg of the journey. It takes about a bit more than an hour to wind your way to Zeballos Once there, it is helpful to ask the locals for the best place to put in, but the bridge at Little Espinosa Inlet is usually a good place.

How to Get Out to the Best Kayaking Areas

There are two choices for getting out to the best kayaking areas. The first is simply launching from the Zeballos area and paddling out there. This usually takes an overnight to get there. Nuchatlitz Provincial Park is about 10 nautical miles from Little Espinosa Inlet. Catala Island Provincial Park is about 11 nautical miles. There are a couple of campsites along the way. Morning paddling is usually the best, as the wind can pick up in these inlets in the early afternoon due to thermal effects. Strong paddlers may be able to make it to Nuchatlitz or Catala on the first day if they leave early enough.

The second way is to pay for passage to one of these drop off points. Water taxi service in the area is able to do this, and many kayakers take this option to avoid the long paddle to get there. Zeballos Expeditions will take passengers out to the areas and rent them kayaks. A number of guide outfitters operate in the area, leading guided tours.

What to Look for in the Nuchatlitz Provincial Park

The Nuchatlitz Provincial Park is only a small section of the great kayaking in this area. The park consists of a group of small islands and islets off Nootka Island, as well as a small section of Nootka Island itself. The small islands provide protection from Pacific swell, but are truly wild. The small beaches are sandy and inviting, and about as remote as it comes. Across the small section of water to Nootka Island, some evidence of first nations settlement still exist, and parts are reserve lands. This section of Nootka Islands curls back onto itself, creating a lagoon area. This is a very interesting day paddle. Heading around this section, past Ensanada Islet goes into the actual Nuchatlitz Inlet. Although more exposed, this is an incredibly beautiful area, with a number of exquisite beaches.

The park area is prime sea otter habitat, so they can often be seen in large rafts just among the small islands. Whales, seals and sea lions swim these waters, and deer live even on the small islands. Tidal pools are full of an abundance of life and are great to explore.

What to Look for in the Catala Island Marine Park

The paddle over to Catala Island can be a committed haul. The crossing is exposed, so good weather and little to no wind are necessary. The outer side of Catala gets the swell, while the inner side, with its large camping area, is fairly protected. The beach here is quite steep, so even a little swell coming in creates a bit of dumping surf to launch and land in. If this is the case, it is best to go in on the back side of this point in the most protected area.
From Catala, short trips can include crossing the Rolling Roadstead to Yellow Bluff Bay and its long sandy beach, but watch out for surf. Twin Islands, on the exposed side of Catala is another beautiful place to explore. Catala is big enough to explore on foot a bit, but probably easier to kayak around and get off at choice spots around the shore.

West Coast Memories to Take Home

After exploring both sides of Eperanza Inlet, the trip back to Zeballos is full of new memories of a wild and incredible place. Whether the return is by kayak or by water taxi, the journey back up the Esperanza Inlet can be a time of reflection on the many experiences of the trip. Being touched by the west coast is unique and memorable, and the Nuchatlitz delivers this in full force.

Best Islands In The World

There are so many islands out there in the world. Which ones are the best islands in the world. Today I am going to have a look at some of the best islands I can think of.

First up on my best island journey. Hawaii. I think it's a fairly safe bet that everyone has heard of this one. Beautiful volcanic islands situated in the pacific ocean. With amazing surf, diving, beaches, unique culture. What is there not to like here. Perhaps having to leave this wonderful island paradise. I love the stunning background of super steep hills running down to the coast. Amazing beauty. As a popular tourist destination accommodation for all budget ranges can easily be found.

Maldives
My second stop on my best island tour is the Maldives. Smack bang in the middle of the Indian ocean. More islands than you can shake a stick at. Just under 1,200 coral islands with only 200 inhabited. Ever wanted to be marooned on your own personal desert island. Here is your chance. The lowest nation on earth. So you know it's going to be easy to get to the beach. Great diving opportunities await. With stunning beaches, friendly locals, great weather. Another great island to visit.

Anguilla
Next on the best island tour. Anguilla . Technically a British overseas territory. Anguilla consists of the main island itself plus twenty small islands/cays with no permanent residents, though there is a restaurant/bar on one. Lying east of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and north of Saint Martin it is one of the most northerly islands in the Leeward chain in the Lesser Antilles. Part of Anguilla's charm is its remoteness, which means more time spent traveling. The island lacks an international airport. It is worth it though, as you don't get bombarded with the obtrusive noises of big planes disturbing your island bliss. Combine with that stunningly beautiful beaches and a relaxed atmosphere and you have one of the best islands in the Caribbean, if not the world.

Ishigaki island. I'm guessing many of you won't have heard of this island. The fact that my spell checker doesn't recognize it. Gives more evidence that this is not a well known island. Located in Okinawa chain of islands. A two hour flight south of Tokyo. Sitting just above the tropic of cancer. You know this island is going to have great weather, and it does. The beaches here are stunning. Beautiful sunny golden sand met by turquoise waters. It is a beach paradise. The diving here is world class and a great place to see some manta-rays. With a unique culture, delicious foods and a special high powered brand of alcohol, Amori. You can be pretty sure of a good island trip here. Definitely worthy of a place in my best island tour.

Hopefully you found out about some amazing islands you hadn't heard of before. If you would like to find out more. Please join me on my continuing journey around the world's best island.

Best Island Fiji Resorts

Jumat, 28 September 2012

There are lots of wonderful resorts in Fiji and you could visit one of them if you purchase one of those holiday packages. Here is one of the best Fiji Resorts : Tokoriki Island Resort Fiji

The Tokoriki Island Resort Fiji is a very peaceful resort located on a secluded island off the coast of Nadi. This resort has 20 comfy rooms that face the beach and they offer lots of water activities, scuba diving and fishing.

Tokoriki Island Resort Fiji
Accommodation
Tokoriki was designed to provide couples a romantic and secluded resort so children are not allowed on this island. The resort boasts a huge infinity pool, which is one of its main attractions, and there is a smaller pool at the back where guests can learn how to go scuba diving from experienced dive masters. The resort also houses a wedding chapel located at the hill if couples prefer a traditional wedding. If visiting couples wish for a beach wedding the resort is happy to oblige them. Tokoriki's beach has very fine white sand on the southern portion of the beach right beside the bures placed there. Snorkeling is also a favorite activity here and most tourists go snorkeling in the ocean because the lagoon has too many seaweed that could hamper one's sight underwater.

Deluxe Beach Bures
Tokoriki's beach bures are all designed with a traditional style.
